The newest addition to our functional rider training collection = the "Reciprocal Contact Band"
This band is utilized to assist in developing a 'forwards feeling connection' from the rider to the horses mouth. It works to give the rider a proprioceptive response, which encourages;
✔️softness of the upper arm
✔️a following hand into the contact
✔️engagement of the core
✔️Feeling connection between rider & horse
This band comes in one size and can be simply knotted at one or both ends for riders with a shorter arm span length. The band is placed behind the riders lower back and around thru the thumbs. The rider then closes the fingers around the reins and the rein is held in position as per normal.
It is up to the rider to control engagement from their entire core into the band (this stops the band from falling down your back). The band is well elasticated to assist in giving adequate proprioception directly to the rider, facilitating a 'forwards feeling' hand with elasticity of the arm up to the horses mouth. The second the rider begins to pull backwards, the band will slacken and they will lose connection to their core.
This is truly a gamechanging functional training tool in assisting the development of a 'feeling' connection.
